Al-Abbas Shrine Custodian Presents Former Regime Documents on Executions, Imprisonment Over Tuwairij Run

The legal custodian of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, Sayyid Ahmad al-Safi, presented official documents from the former Iraqi regime showing prison and execution sentences issued against citizens accused of participating in the Tuwairij Run.

The documents were displayed on Tuesday evening during the ceremony marking the replacement of the flags above the holy dome of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas, peace be upon him, as Muharram commemorations began.

Organizers called for adherence to religious rituals, saying Husseini gatherings increase awareness and strengthen insight. They emphasized that participation in the mourning assemblies brings believers closer to the path of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.

They praised those who defend their homelands and holy sites, saying the followers of Imam Hussein have protected lands and sanctities. He added that the remembrance of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, frightens oppressors.

They urged families to attend Husseini mourning gatherings, calling on children, adults, men and women to participate.
