New data indicates that the traditional structure of the World Wide Web is changing at an unprecedented pace, as bot- and AI-generated activity has surpassed human user activity for the first time in internet history.

This major shift points to the beginning of a new era in which the internet is moving away from being a purely human-centered space and becoming an environment increasingly dominated by intelligent and automated agents.

According to Al Jazeera, Cloudflare, a major company specializing in cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity, said in a recent report that 57.4 percent of all recorded requests on websites under its coverage are now made by bots and AI agents, while the share of human users has fallen to 42.6 percent.

The rapid growth of chatbots and autonomous agents — systems that collect information and perform tasks across the web without direct human intervention — is seen as the main driver behind this unprecedented statistical shift.
