Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Urges Believers to Make Most of Month of Sha‘ban

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi has called on believers to make full spiritual and practical use of the days and nights of the holy month of Sha‘ban, describing the period as one of great merit and divine grace.

In remarks published on the official website of his office to mark the beginning of Sha‘ban and the anniversaries of the births of several Imams, the senior Shia religious authority emphasized the importance of the month in strengthening faith, spiritual awareness, and a deeper connection with religious values.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stated that the days and nights of Sha‘ban hold a special status before God and are also significant in relation to Imam al-Mahdi, the Awaited Savior, may Allah hasten his blessed reappearance. He urged both men and women, particularly those visiting the Holy Shrines of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), to use this and all other times of the year to seek divine pleasure through righteous words and actions.

He further stressed that progress in obedience to God is achieved through commitment to enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, noting that those who take the lead in obedience to God are promised spiritual success.

The Shia authority has repeatedly highlighted the importance of religious seasons as opportunities for self-reflection, moral reform, and spiritual growth, encouraging believers to draw lasting benefits that guide them toward personal integrity and social responsibility in both worldly life and the hereafter.
