The 28th of Rabi al-Thani 1390 AH marks the anniversary of the passing of Allama Abdul-Hussein Amini, the distinguished Islamic scholar and author of the monumental encyclopedic work Al-Ghadir.
This renowned masterpiece is the result of over forty years of tireless research, in which Allama Amini examined the issue of the guardianship (Wilayah) of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) from historical, exegetical, jurisprudential, literary, and theological perspectives.
In his pursuit of knowledge, Allama Amini traveled to libraries across Iraq, India, Pakistan, Egypt, and Morocco. He once stated that in preparing Al-Ghadir, he read more than 10,000 books in full and consulted over 100,000 additional sources.
Many scholars regard Al-Ghadir as a monument of Islamic unity and a model of scholarly reasoning in defense of the truth of Wilayah.
Among Allama Amini’s other notable works are Shuhada’ al-Fadilah (Martyrs on the Path of Virtue), Adab al-Za’ir, and Kamil al-Ziyarat.
Allama Amini passed away in Tehran on the 28th of Rabi al-Thani and was laid to rest in the Amir al-Mu’minin Library in Najaf al-Ashraf, which he himself had founded.
