Morocco Allocates $14 Billion to Boost Education and Health Sectors
…………
Morocco will allocate 140 billion dirhams (around $14 billion) to the education and health sectors in 2026, as part of a national effort to improve public services and create new jobs, Daily Sabah reported. The decision was announced in a statement from the Royal Cabinet following a ministerial meeting chaired by King Mohammed VI in Rabat, which reviewed the main guidelines of the 2026 draft Finance Bill. The plan includes the creation of more than 27,000 positions aimed at strengthening the workforce in both sectors.
In health care, the government will prioritize expanding hospital infrastructure with the opening of new university hospital centers in Agadir and Laayoune, and the completion of the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat. Construction will also continue on facilities in Beni Mellal, Guelmim, and Errachidia, along with a major program to modernize 90 hospitals nationwide.
In education, the focus will be on implementing the national reform roadmap through universal preschool access, enhanced teaching support, and improved learning quality. The initiatives will also target vulnerable and remote regions, including mountain and oasis areas, while promoting sustainable coastal development and rural modernization amid rising public demands for reform.
