Blizzard Strands Hundreds Near Everest

More than 350 trekkers were successfully guided to safety after being stranded by blizzard-like conditions on the Tibetan side of Mount Everest, according to reports from Chinese state media (Russia Al-Youm).

The heavy snow and rainfall, described as unusually severe for October, caught over 500 people by surprise in the Tingri region. While the first group was evacuated to the township of Qudang, approximately 200 trekkers remained stranded in treacherous conditions as rescuers worked to reach them.

The incident highlights the increasingly unpredictable climate shifts in the Himalayas, posing significant risks to climbers and local communities. The heavy weather also triggered deadly landslides and flash floods in neighboring Nepal, killing at least 47 people.
