The film “The Voice of Hind Rajab,” which tells the harrowing true story of a 5-year-old Palestinian girl, premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and was met with an emotional 22-minute standing ovation, Anadolu Agency reported.

Directed by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, the film recounts the tragic events of January 29, 2024, when Hind Rajab was the sole survivor of an attack on her family’s car in Gaza. The film documents her desperate call to Red Crescent volunteers for help.

The premiere drew an emotional response from both the audience and critics. During the standing ovation, the cast held up a picture of Hind. Notable figures in attendance included actors Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara—both executive producers on the film—along with Brad Pitt, Alfonso Cuaron, and Jonathan Glazer.

The film has been entered into the competition for the prestigious Golden Lion award, with its creators hoping it will serve as a powerful voice for Hind and a way to bring the suffering of the people in Gaza to a global audience.
