Germany to Resume Relocation of Vulnerable Afghans Amid Pressure
………….

Germany is set to lift its months-long suspension on admitting vulnerable Afghan nationals after growing legal challenges and Pakistan’s push to deport refugees, Arab News reported. Approximately 2,000 Afghans approved for relocation under a program targeting those at risk under Taliban rule have been stranded in Pakistan due to the freeze, initially imposed as part of Germany’s migration control efforts.

Legal actions by rights groups and affected individuals have increased pressure on Berlin to restart the program. The situation intensified as Pakistan announced a September 1 deadline to expel documented Afghan refugees, including those awaiting relocation to Germany. According to government sources cited by Arab News, families have been notified about the resumption, with arrivals expected soon.

The relocation will be conducted discreetly via commercial flights with stopovers in Dubai or Istanbul. The German foreign ministry confirmed that verification processes are restarting and that personnel have been deployed to Pakistan to expedite case processing. Requests for comments from Germany’s foreign and interior ministries were not immediately answered.
