Public prosecution in Morocco has announced that Ibtisam Lachgar, a feminist activist and developmental psychologist, has been arrested and referred to the Rabat court on charges of insulting God. The arrest followed the public outrage on social media after she posted a photo of herself wearing a T-shirt with offensive phrases directed at the “sacred entity of God.”

According to the Elaf News Agency, the incident sparked widespread public anger. Under the Moroccan penal code, insulting Islam can result in a prison sentence of up to five years.
