The holy city of Najaf received nearly 17 million pilgrims during this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage, according to Governor Youssef Kanawi. Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, he said surveillance cameras recorded the influx of pilgrims arriving in the province throughout the commemoration period.

Meanwhile, the Abbas Holy Shrine announced that over 21.1 million people participated in the Arbaeen rituals in Karbala in 2025. The shrine authorities reported that the figures were based on an advanced electronic counting system powered by artificial intelligence, installed along routes leading to Karbala and at the shrine’s entrances.
