Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Only True Repentance Can Forgive Polytheism

In a recent scholarly session, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi emphasized that, according to the Qur’an, individuals who die in a state of polytheism without genuine repentance will not be forgiven by Allah.

Held on Monday, 15th of Safar, 1447 AH, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi also addressed attendees’ questions on various jurisprudential issues. The Supreme Marja highlighted that the Qur’an repeatedly states that those who associate partners with Allah and do not repent sincerely before death will not receive Allah’s forgiveness. However, His Eminence clarified that individuals who believe in Allah’s oneness but commit other sins without repentance may still be forgiven by Allah, except for “Rights and Dues of People” which they will be held accountable for.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi further emphasized the importance of conveying the truth to the people, stating that it is obligatory to ensure that the masses are aware of the realities so that they cannot claim on the Day of Judgment that they were not informed.
