100 al-Shabaab terrorists eliminated in Somalia military operation

Based on a report from the Somali Defense Ministry, over 100 al-Shabaab terrorists were killed in a week-long military operation in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region, Anadolu Agency reported. The operation, conducted by the Somali National Army (SNA) in collaboration with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), resulted in the liberation of the strategic agricultural town of Bariire.

In addition to the deaths, several terrorists were captured and a significant amount of weapons and military supplies were seized. The military confirmed that two SNA soldiers were killed and 12 were injured during the fighting. This operation follows a previous announcement that 70 al-Shabaab terrorists had been killed in the same area just days prior.

The al-Shabaab group has been engaged in an insurgency against the Somali government for over 16 years, with frequent attacks targeting security forces, government officials, and civilians.
