……………..
A joint academic study by the College of Education for Humanities at Babylon University and the local Education Directorate examined the growing movement of Arbaeen pilgrims and its effects on the development of rural road networks in Babil province.
The research, conducted by Dr. Bushra Ramadan Yaseen and Ali Jassim Jawda, emphasized that the pilgrimage acts as a catalyst for expanding infrastructure and promoting sustainable development projects.
The study highlighted that improving transportation links between rural and urban areas during the mass visitation season contributes to spatial development by leveraging natural and human resources.
It also noted ongoing expansion of rural roads to accommodate the increasing number of visitors, providing opportunities for sustainable regional projects.
The researchers called for comprehensive urban planning and enhanced rural transport networks to serve both pilgrims and local residents, urging government support to integrate transportation services with broader regional development efforts. This study contributes to academic understanding of the social and infrastructural impacts of major religious events in Iraq.
