Iran Warns of Possible Water Shortages in Tehran as Reservoir Levels Plummet
………………
Iranian President Masoud Bazkiaan warned Thursday of potential water shortages in Tehran if consumption is not reduced, according to state news agency IRNA. During a visit to Zanjan, Bazkiaan cautioned that dam reserves supplying the capital could run dry by October without immediate action.
Official data shows Tehran’s reservoirs are at just 20% of capacity, while the national average stands at 44%. The Tehran Water Supply Company reported current levels are the lowest in a century. Authorities have urged residents to install water tanks amid ongoing supply disruptions affecting many households.
