In Jharkhand’s Kalindi Basti, Jamshedpur, a Christian family’s home was raided on Sunday by a group led by BJP leader Gunjan Yadav, amid allegations of religious conversion, Maktoob Media reported. The raid followed a program held in a rented house in the area, which triggered protests from Hindu nationalist groups accusing the attendees of conversion activities.
Local police intervened, detaining 12 individuals and seizing Bibles and other religious materials as evidence. The items were sealed by authorities. The Sitaramdera Police Station in-charge, Niranjan Kumar, managed the situation with additional forces, restoring order and taking those involved to the station for questioning.
Residents reported that such gatherings had been occurring every Sunday evening in the rented house, often extending late into the night, and that they had previously expressed concerns to local officials. To maintain peace amid rising tensions, a Quick Response Team was deployed, and a heavy police presence remains in the area to prevent further incidents.
