Arab League Chief: Baghdad summit is key to regional unity

The Arab League’s Secretary-General emphasized the importance of the upcoming summit in Baghdad during a visit to Kuwait, where he delivered a speech on regional challenges. Speaking at the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Kuwait Diplomatic Institute, he highlighted the summit’s role in addressing key issues, including the war in Gaza and ongoing crises in Syria, Yemen, and Libya.

He described the Baghdad summit, scheduled for next month, as a vital opportunity to strengthen Arab unity and coordinate diplomatic responses to regional instability. A preparatory visit by a senior Arab League official is planned to assess logistical arrangements.

The secretary-general also reaffirmed the League’s commitment to supporting a two-state solution in Palestine. He noted that the issue will be further discussed at an upcoming UN conference in June, as part of a broader Saudi-French diplomatic initiative. The visit to Kuwait included high-level meetings with Kuwaiti officials focused on regional cooperation and summit preparations.
