Saudi Arabia Announces Temporary Visa Ban for 14 Countries Ahead of Hajj

Saudi Arabia has announced a temporary visa ban for 14 countries ahead of the Hajj season, affecting Umrah, business, and family visas, Iqna reported. The suspension is expected to last until mid-June, with Umrah visa holders allowed entry until April 13. The affected countries include Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, and Yemen.

The ban aims to address issues of unauthorized participation in Hajj and illegal employment by travelers using business and family visas. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the ban will streamline travel regulations and enhance safety during Hajj. Individuals who stay illegally may face a five-year entry restriction.

Normal visa processes are expected to resume after mid-June. Additionally, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has launched a digital guide in 16 languages, including Urdu, to assist pilgrims in navigating the pilgrimage experience.
