Delhi Witnesses Massive Protest Against Waqf Bill

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) organized a large protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, attracting thousands from various backgrounds, Muslim Mirror reported. Leaders from multiple Muslim organizations and opposition parties, including Congress and AAP, participated, while JD(U) and TDP were notably excluded due to dissatisfaction with their support.

Speakers warned of nationwide demonstrations if the Bill is passed. Maulana Obaidullah Khan Azmi accused the government of attempting to seize Waqf properties, while AIMPLB vice-president Syed Sadatullah Husaini claimed the Bill infringes on Muslims’ religious rights and constitutional values. Other leaders, including Dipankar Bhattacharjee and Hannan Mollah, condemned the Bill as unconstitutional and a threat to Muslim lands.

Prof. Jagmohan Singh and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi expressed solidarity and warned against communal discord. The protest underscored deep concerns over perceived attacks on Muslim rights, with demands for the Bill’s immediate withdrawal.
