Muslim Council of Britain elects new Secretary General, unveils vision for reform
Dr. Wajid Akhter has been elected Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), succeeding Zara Mohammed after her four-year term, news outlet Islam Channel said on Sunday.
Dr. Akhter outlined plans for major reforms within the organization to address evolving challenges and opportunities for British Muslims.
In his inaugural address, he introduced “Vision 2050,” a roadmap aimed at uniting and empowering Muslim communities while fostering their contributions to British society.
He emphasized the need for structural changes within the MCB to align with the shifting dynamics of the community and the country.
Dr. Akhter highlighted critical issues such as Islamophobia, misrepresentation of Muslims, and the need to engage in constructive dialogue with critics.
