The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen continues to weigh heavily on the lives of millions, with deteriorating living conditions exacerbating the impact of the prolonged conflict. Women and girls, in particular, face severe challenges, including food insecurity, climate-related crises, and the threat of disease outbreaks.
According to UN reports, 11.9 million women and girls in Yemen lack access to protection and reproductive health services, further worsening their plight.
During a field visit to healthcare facilities and safe spaces for women, Insherah Ahmed, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) representative in Yemen, highlighted an increase in the number of women accessing prenatal healthcare services.
The UN official emphasized that providing and maintaining access to these services can save countless lives, stressing the importance of continued support for women and girls in the country, urging donors not to overlook the alarming statistics regarding those affected.
