Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Sayyida Fatima is Hujjat and Holds Position Equivalent to Imam

Another daily scholarly session led by Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi was held in his honourable residence, during which the Supreme Marja addressed attendees’ questions regarding various jurisprudential issues, as in previous sessions.

In discussing the concept of the Ma’sumeen being Hujjat (Proof), his Eminence stated: “Hujjat means obedience; it is obligatory for us to follow them in all matters.”

Regarding the status of Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra (Peace Be Upon Her) as Hujjat based on a narration from Imam Hasan al-Askari (Peace Be Upon Him), he noted: “Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her) was superior to her Immaculate children and is God’s Hujjat (Proof) over them.”

Grand Ayatullah Shirazi further explained: “Evidence from Hadith suggests that the fourteen Infallibles (Peace Be Upon Them) possess equal knowledge, and whatever one knows, the others are also aware of; only their ranks differ. The Five People of the Cloak (Ahl al-Kisa) are superior to the rest, with the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him and his family) being the most sublime. Likewise, the remaining members of Ahl al-Kisa are superior to others. It has also been narrated that Imam al-Hujjah (May Allah hasten his reappearance) is superior to his eight ancestors.”

The Supreme Religious Authority concluded by stating: “Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her) holds a position equivalent to that of an Imam.”
