Italy sees unique Quran translation by its first Muslim translator
Italy has seen a unique Quran translation by its first Muslim translator, Hamza Roberto Piccardo.
His Italian rendition, published in 1993 by Dar al-Hikma, reflects a distinctly Islamic perspective, setting it apart from earlier translations by Western scholars. Piccardo aimed to capture the Quran’s spiritual essence, making his work accessible and resonant for Italian readers.
After five years of effort and rigorous review by multiple committees, his translation has gained widespread popularity, contributing to the spread of Islam in Italy, where there are around 2.5 million Muslims.
This translation holds special significance, as it provides Italian readers with a clear, faithful view of Islam, fostering understanding and bridging cultural divides.
