Lebanese schools open in Iraq to receive displaced students

Iraq’s Minister of Education, Ibrahim Namis Al-Jubouri, announced on Thursday the approval to open several Lebanese schools in Iraqi provinces experiencing a growing presence of displaced Lebanese families.

According to a statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Education, the decision was made during the minister’s meeting with the Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq, Ali Al-Habhab.

This initiative comes in response to the worsening humanitarian situation, following the arrival of around 11,000 Lebanese families in Iraq due to recent events in Lebanon.

The goal is to facilitate the enrollment of Lebanese students in schools, allowing them to continue their education according to the Lebanese curriculum, with broad governmental support.

Israeli attacks on Lebanon have forced over 100,000 Lebanese to flee to Syria, with 11,000 of them crossing into Iraq. The Iraqi embassy in Damascus continues to facilitate the return of Iraqis living in Lebanon.
