UNICEF Warns of Fragile Recovery One Year After Herat Earthquake

One year after the devastating earthquakes in Herat, Afghanistan, UNICEF reports that recovery remains fragile for affected families, Khaama Press reported yesterday.

The organization has provided vital services, including healthcare, clean water, emergency cash assistance, and psychosocial support to 96,000 children. However, survivors have expressed dissatisfaction with new housing, citing vulnerability to storms and rain. UNICEF warns that without sustained aid, the progress made could be undone, putting vulnerable children at greater risk. The statement emphasizes that the well-being of these families must be prioritized as they navigate the challenges of the upcoming winter, highlighting the critical need for international assistance to prevent further hardships in the earthquake-impacted regions.
