Iraqi Commander-in-Chief puts security forces on full alert to secure Holy Arba’een Pilgrimage
The Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia’a Al-Sudani, on Tuesday ordered the security forces affiliated with the Ministries of Defense and Interior to be on full alert until the Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage is completed.
According to a security source, “The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed all security units and agencies belonging to the Ministries of Defense, Interior, Intelligence, National Security, and Popular Mobilization Forces participating in the security plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage to be on full alert until the completion of the pilgrimage.”
Government media spokesperson Haider Majid revealed on Wednesday that all Iraqi state departments had been put on high alert to ensure the success of the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
Shia Muslims around the world commemorate the Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage 40 days after Ashura, the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, along with his family and companions, in the Battle of Karbala in the year 61 AH (680 AD).
