Tragic Aerial Firing in Karachi Leaves One Dead, 95 Injured
On the eve of Independence Day, Karachi witnessed a tragic incident of celebratory aerial firing, resulting in the death of a child and injuries to at least 95 others, Dawn newspaper reported yesterday.
Hospital officials reported that incidents of aerial firing are common during such celebrations, despite ongoing bans.
Police responded by arresting 19 suspects across various districts, recovering weapons in many cases. A suspect was apprehended after the child’s death due to accidental gunfire, with a licensed pistol found in his possession.
The incidents occurred in multiple areas, including Korangi, Landhi, and Gulshan-i-Iqbal, highlighting the persistent issue of safety during festive celebrations in the city.
