Western Sudan: Paramilitary Forces Attack Kills at Least 23 Civilians
At least 23 civilians were killed in an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group in North Kordofan State, Western Sudan, Xinhua news agency reported today.
According to non-governmental groups, the RSF intercepted several vehicles heading to a local market and opened fire on the unarmed passengers. The Sudanese Doctors Network condemned the attack as a “heinous crime against defenseless civilians.”
The deadly conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF has been ongoing since April 2023, claiming over 16,650 lives so far. The violence has also displaced more than 7.7 million people within Sudan, with an additional 2.2 million seeking refuge in neighboring countries.
