Ferry sinks in Central African Republic, leaving at least 20 dead
A ferry carrying over 300 people sank in the Central African Republic, resulting in at least 20 deaths, the Associated Press reported Saturday.
The incident occurred on the Mpoko River in the capital, Bangui, while the ferry was en route to a funeral, the source mentioned.
It added that local boat pilots and fishermen rescued victims and retrieved bodies from the river before emergency services arrived.
According to the news agency, the death toll is expected to rise as the military continues the search.
