Shia community in Spain prepares to commemorate painful martyrdom of Imam Ali
Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in Barcelona, Spain, are preparing this year to commemorate the painful anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, on the 21st of the holy month of Ramadan, Barcelona news website reported.
The Sants-Montjuïc area in the city will witness a large gathering and symbolic coffin procession to commemorate this painful occasion, remembering the sacrifices and legacy of the son-in-law of the Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, and his successor, the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, the website added.
It explained that “the figure of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, is highly honored in Islam as a whole and especially among Shi’a Muslims, and the participants in the procession will show great pain and sorrow at the loss of their spiritual leader.”
The Spanish website pointed out: “The presence of the Shia community in Barcelona dates back to the 1980s, and it was further strengthened in the 1990s after a large number of Pakistani and Lebanese refugees arrived, leading to the opening of a Hussainiya in the city.”
It should be mentioned that Muslims and Shias around the world will commemorate on the nineteenth of this month of Ramadan the incident of Imam Ali’s wounding in the mihrab and then his martyrdom on the twenty-first of this holy month.
