Yemen Bombings Worsen Dire Civilian Situation: UN

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that ongoing airstrikes in Yemen are exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis, Xinhua reported. Over 19 million people, nearly half the population, require essential aid, including food, healthcare, and clean water. Recent bombings have killed four people, injured dozens, and destroyed critical infrastructure, such as a health facility in Hajjah governorate.

Humanitarian efforts continue despite the challenges, with partners distributing food to nearly 6 million people and supporting over 500 health facilities serving 225,000 individuals. However, funding remains critically low, with only 7% of the $2.5 billion humanitarian appeal for 2025 secured. OCHA emphasized that aid is a matter of life and death for vulnerable communities, as needs rise while resources shrink.
