US Court Summons Indian Officials in Pannun Case

A US court has summoned the Indian government in relation to a civil suit filed by Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who claims a conspiracy by Indian officials to assassinate him, Muslim Mirror reported yesterday.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has described the summons as “completely unwarranted,” emphasizing that Pannun’s allegations are unsubstantiated. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reiterated India’s concerns, stating that the case contradicts government policy.

In May, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar confirmed that India is investigating the matter but assured that it would not affect India-US relations. The Indian government plans to present evidence of Pannun’s ties to terrorism, highlighting the need for international collaboration against separatist movements. This case reflects the complex dynamics of diaspora politics and international law as India maintains its firm stance against terrorism while seeking global cooperation to combat such threats.
