Over 1,400 Migrants Arrive in UK via Small Boats Over Weekend

Official data from the Home Office reveals that 1,424 migrants crossed the English Channel in 24 small boats over the weekend, bringing the total for 2024 to 25,052, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

On Saturday alone, 707 people were detected in 11 boats, followed by 717 migrants arriving on Sunday via 13 boats, marking the second-highest daily total this year. This surge is particularly notable as it represents the highest daily figure since the Labour Party’s general election victory on July 4.

The record for the most crossings in a single day this year remains 882, recorded on June 18. In comparison, nearly 30,000 migrants arrived in the UK via small boats in 2023.
