Sadiq Khan Makes History Winning Third Term as Mayor of London
Sadiq Khan has secured a decisive, historic victory, winning a third consecutive term as Mayor of London.
With all 14 constituencies reporting, Khan emerged victorious, securing 44% of the vote compared to 33% for his Conservative rival, Susan Hall. This resulted in a commanding majority of over 275,000 votes for the incumbent Muslim mayor.
Khan’s solid performance across the capital’s diverse constituencies solidified his position, political experts stated.
The win comes amid a challenging weekend for the Conservative Party, which faced defeats in mayoral and local council elections across England and Wales.
Khan, born to immigrant parents from Pakistan, rose through the ranks of the Labour Party before making history as London’s first Muslim mayor in 2016.
