Iraq: Climate change puts two more Iraqi provinces on displacement list

Iraqi Minister of Migration Ivan Jabaro announced on Tuesday that Diyala and Diwaniyah provinces have joined the list of provinces that have witnessed displacement due to climate change.

Jabaro said that about 7,000 families have been registered as displaced, and that they have been included in 200 income-generating projects.

The Minister added that the displacement is due to a number of factors, including drought, desertification, and the rise in sea levels, confirming that the government is working to provide assistance to the displaced people, including food, shelter, and medical care.
