More than 3 million pilgrims commemorate sorrowful martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari

The Al-Askari Holy Shrine has revealed the number of pilgrims who participated in the commemoration of the sorrowful martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari, peace be upon him, in Holy Samarra.

In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the Secretariat-General said that “More than three million pilgrims commemorated yesterday, Sunday, the sorrowful anniversary from different Iraqi provinces and other countries.”

It added that “the honorable pilgrims continued for days to hold their mourning ceremonies and processions on this painful tragedy,” adding that “all the security and service departments were working around the day to provide and serve the honorable pilgrims with their needs.”

According to official statistics, more than 850 mourning and service processions were set up on the roads leading to Holy Samarra to serve pilgrims.
