Iraq: Construction works underway at honorable shrine of Zaid the Martyr

The Secretariat-General of the shrine of Zayd the Martyr, peace be upon him, in the Iraqi province of Babylon, has begun to cover the purified shrine and its gate with luxurious alabaster.

The Secretary-General said in a statement received by Shia Waves Agency that, “its employees and technicians have begun removing the old alabaster of the shrine of Zaid the Martyr, peace be upon him, to replace it with new one.”

It added “the construction works include covering the walls surrounding the holy tomb with marble, and it will be carried out in two stages to make it compatible with the status of the place and its religious position.”

It explained that “its employees are also working on covering main gate of the shrine (Bab al-Qibla gate) in accordance with high standards,” indicating that “the construction works come with the contribution of Haj Mohammed Hussein al-Numani, the owner of the Etihad Food Industries Co. Ltd. who donated the money required to restore the holy place.”
