Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Daily Scholarly Meeting

The daily scholarly meetings of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadegh Hosseini Shirazi was held on Wednesday, 22nd of Dhul Hijjah, July 12. In this meeting, like the previous days, the Marja answered the questions of those present in the meeting about various jurisprudence issues.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi said in this meeting that two of the Infallible Innocents, peace be upon them, ruled, one was the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him and his pure family, for almost ten years, and the other was the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, for almost five years. These two figures did not force anyone to observe any wajib. They behaved in such a way that people were attracted to their morals, because morals attract people.

He also said in this meeting: Free will is a determining condition in human actions and speech, and if it is established that a person has an acute mental problem in such a way that he is deprived of free will, the rulings will not apply to him.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi went on to say that such a person’s confession or denial is not proof, and if he performs an act under pressure, the ruling of punishment will not be applied to him to the extent that he lacked free will.

He also stated that in manuals of Ahkam and books of Fiqh, it is stated that human actions and deeds must be conducted with free will to be judged because if a person lacks free will, nothing they do can be used as proof.

It should be noted that the series of scholarly meetings of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi is broadcasted live every day at 8:45 a.m. London time on Imam Hussein Media Group.
