Canadian Police Probes Islamophobic Verbal Attack on Hijab-Wearing Woman

Police in London, Ontario, are investigating an alleged Islamophobic incident involving a Muslim woman wearing a hijab, after a video circulated on social media showing a man telling her that Muslims do not belong in Canada.
According to the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), the woman was with her two daughters during the confrontation. The man reportedly criticised her hijab, claimed it was incompatible with Christian values and admitted to being racist.
The London Police Service’s hate crime unit is investigating the incident. The NCCM condemned the attack, with spokesperson Steven Zhou saying the remarks reflected anti-Muslim rhetoric frequently circulated online. The case has renewed concerns about Islamophobia and hostility towards Muslims displaying visible religious symbols in Canada.
