Poll: 46% of Muslims in France Consider Leaving if Marine Le Pen Wins Presidency

A survey by French polling institute Ifop for Marianne magazine found that 46% of Muslim respondents in France are considering leaving the country if far-right National Rally leader Marine Le Pen wins the next presidential election.
More than 80% of respondents expressed concern that attacks and discrimination against Muslims would increase under a Le Pen presidency. Meanwhile, 27% said they would prefer to conceal their religious identity in everyday life.
The survey found that the desire to emigrate was particularly pronounced among Generation Z respondents, at 40%, and supporters of left-wing politician Jean-Luc Mélenchon, at 43%.
The findings also indicated potential opposition to a Le Pen presidency, with 38% of employed respondents saying they would be willing to take part in a general strike. Additionally, 41% said they would consider refusing to comply with laws they regarded as unjust.
Support for civil disobedience was especially strong among Mélenchon’s supporters, nearly three-quarters of whom expressed willingness to take such action, according to the survey.
The findings highlight concerns among Muslim respondents about discrimination and civil liberties in the event of a far-right electoral victory.
