Iraq Activates Flights to 10 International Destinations as “Green Bird” Expands Air Network

Iraq’s Ministry of Transport has announced the activation and resumption of flights to 10 international destinations as part of efforts to expand Iraqi Airways’ network and strengthen air connectivity between Iraq and regional and global cities.

The ministry’s Director of Media and Government Communication said the newly resumed routes include several key destinations, such as the Baghdad–Moscow route, Kirkuk–Trabzon, Basra–Baku, and Baghdad–Tunis, in addition to the restoration of flights to a number of Arab countries.

The ministry stated that reopening these routes has expanded travel options for passengers to and from Iraq, meeting growing demand for international flights while enhancing the national carrier’s presence in regional and international aviation markets.

It added that Iraqi Airways continues to implement development and operational programs aimed at improving passenger services, increasing fleet efficiency, and expanding the destinations served by the national airline.

The ministry noted that the next phase will focus on reactivating additional suspended routes and launching new destinations based on travel demand and market needs, contributing to greater operational growth for Iraqi Airways.

These measures are part of Iraq’s broader strategy to develop the civil aviation sector and strengthen the role of the “Green Bird” in connecting the country with global destinations while providing passengers with wider and more flexible travel options.
