Yemeni Organization: More Than 90 Journalists and Media Workers Killed Since Start of Conflict

The National Organization for Yemeni Media Workers, known as “Sada,” has reported that more than 90 journalists and media workers have been killed since the outbreak of the conflict in Yemen nearly 12 years ago.
The organization warned that violations targeting media workers are continuing, with journalists in the country facing increasing risks.
The statement was issued following a protest held in the city of Marib, where dozens of journalists and activists gathered to condemn ongoing attacks on media freedoms and demand protection for journalists, as well as accountability for those responsible for targeting them.
Sada said it is closely monitoring the rise in killings and assassinations of journalists and media workers, describing these violations as breaches of international humanitarian law and international conventions protecting human rights and press freedom.
According to the organization’s documentation, more than 90 journalists and media workers have been killed since the conflict began, including 32 journalists in 2025 and two others during the first half of 2026.
The organization said the continued targeting of journalists contributes to media blackout and undermines the independence of journalistic work. It called for independent and transparent local and international investigations into the killings of media workers, and for those responsible to be held accountable in order to end impunity and strengthen the protection of journalists as they carry out their duties.
