UN Investigates Death of Two Peacekeepers in Lebanon
——————————
The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is investigating an explosion in southern Lebanon that killed two peacekeepers and injured two others, one seriously, near the village of Bani Hayyan on Monday. The blast destroyed a UN vehicle, Arab News reported.

This follows another deadly incident on Sunday, when an Indonesian UNIFIL peacekeeper was killed by an explosion inside a base at Ett Taibe, with another person critically injured.

UN officials, including Peacekeeping Chief Jean-Pierre Lacroix, condemned the attacks, noting that the origins of the blasts are not yet known and calling for the protection of UN personnel under international law. UNIFIL emphasized that deliberate attacks on peacekeepers may constitute war crimes and urged all parties to comply with international law and end hostilities in the region.
