Indian cities once again were witness to faith-driven community tensions and acts of desecration targeting Muslim community.

In Jharkhand’s Garhwa district, 19 people were arrested following clashes during a Ram Navami procession. Police said the dispute arose over aspects of the procession, including the raising of religious flags and firecrackers, leading to stone-pelting and injuries to several people, including police personnel. Those arrested included 13 Muslims and six Hindus. Security forces intervened to restore order, and officials stated the situation is under control.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district, a mosque in Naigaon Behati village was demolished early in the morning. Authorities said the structure had been built on government land designated as a pond and removed following a court order after prior notices were not complied with. Around 500 police personnel were deployed to maintain security, and no unrest was reported. Local leaders described the action as politically sensitive.
