FreeMuslim Association: International Day of Peaceful Coexistence a Call Against Hatred and War
——————————————–
The Global Nonviolence Organization (FreeMuslim) said the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence represents an important humanitarian and ethical moment to renew calls to reject hatred and violence, stressing that it should not be treated as a merely ceremonial occasion but as a global opportunity to entrench values of acceptance and mutual respect as foundations for human stability.

In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the organization said peaceful coexistence is rooted in the belief that all people have the right to live with dignity regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences. It emphasized that the principle of nonviolence it promotes remains the most effective means of resolving conflicts and sparing societies the devastation caused by armed confrontations.

The organization expressed deep concern over deteriorating conditions in the Middle East, warning that 2026 marks a dangerous turning point amid ongoing conflicts that are widening social divides and fueling hate speech and sectarian polarization. It also noted that continued wars have driven waves of displacement and refugees, placing growing economic and social burdens on host countries and undermining social cohesion.

The statement highlighted the increasing use of social media to spread incitement and division, cautioning against turning human diversity from a source of strength into a trigger for conflict, while also pointing to the destabilizing impact of external interventions.

The organization called for enforcing international laws criminalizing discrimination and hate speech, protecting minority and religious rights, reforming education to promote tolerance and nonviolence, and launching inclusive dialogue among political and religious leaders to end armed conflicts.
