Iraq Strengthens Border Security with Cameras and Drones
……..
Iraq has intensified its border security measures, installing around 1,000 modern surveillance cameras along key sections of its frontier, particularly near Syria. The cameras are connected to the National Operations Center, allowing real-time monitoring and rapid response to potential threats. Officials described this expansion as the most robust border protection the country has ever implemented.
In addition to cameras, Iraqi border forces are now deploying 15 drones capable of continuous surveillance for up to six hours and covering distances of up to 80 kilometers. The government has contracts with the Military Industrial Authority to procure and manufacture additional drones, further enhancing aerial monitoring capabilities along vulnerable border areas.
Efforts to secure the border also include the construction of approximately 350 kilometers of concrete barriers along the Syrian frontier. Authorities emphasized that work on the border wall will continue, forming part of a broader strategy to strengthen Iraq’s territorial security and prevent unauthorized crossings or smuggling activities.
