Arab coalition warns against military manoeuvres undermining de-escalation in Yemen

The Arab coalition backing Yemen’s internationally recognised government has warned that any military movements undermining ongoing de-escalation efforts will be addressed immediately to protect civilians, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the warning followed a request from Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council to take urgent steps to safeguard civilians in Hadramout Governorate. He cited what he described as serious humanitarian violations by groups affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
Al-Maliki said the measures form part of continued joint Saudi-Emirati efforts aimed at easing tensions, facilitating the withdrawal of armed forces, handing over military camps, and allowing local authorities to resume their duties.
He reaffirmed the coalition’s support for Yemen’s internationally recognised government and urged all parties to show restraint and pursue peaceful solutions.
The STC has recently pushed the government out of its headquarters in Aden and claimed wider control across southern Yemen. Saudi Arabia has also called on STC forces to withdraw from areas seized earlier this month in the eastern provinces of Hadramout and Mahra.
