Two Taliban members were killed and another injured in an attack on a night patrol convoy in Helmand province, Amu TV reported. The incident occurred Sunday night in the Regi area of Musa Qala district. Local sources said the Taliban later detained and executed two men allegedly linked to Deputy Defense Minister Qayum Zakir.

The Taliban have not commented on the attack. Residents noted that armed opposition groups remain active in northern Helmand, citing resentment over the group’s strict enforcement of its poppy cultivation ban. The assault came shortly after Zakir’s recent visit to the province.
