23rd of Rabi al-Awwal Marks Anniversary of Sayyida Fatima al-Masuma’s Arrival in Holy Qom
——————————————–
On the 23rd of Rabi al-Awwal in the year 201 AH, Sayyida Fatima al-Masuma (peace be upon her), sister of Imam Ali al-Ridha (peace be upon him), arrived in the holy city of Qom, sanctifying the land with her presence.
Historical accounts state that prominent families and women of the city, especially from noble Alawi lineages, hurried to welcome the noble lady and benefit from her spiritual presence.
On her journey toward Khorasan, Sayyida Fatima al-Masuma is said to have fallen ill due to poisoning by opponents of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). She diverted her path toward Qom, where she was warmly received by the city’s leaders and hosted in the residence of Musa ibn Khazraj.
The noble lady remained in Qom for 17 days, devoted to prayer and worship. The site of her devotions, once part of the Setiyeh school and now known as Bayt al-Nur (House of Light), remains a place of reverence for her followers.
According to different narrations, her passing occurred either on the 10th or 12th of Rabi al-Thani in the same year. Many believers commemorate her memory over these three days.
Today, her blessed shrine in Qom is one of the most significant centers of pilgrimage, attracting millions of devotees annually from across the world.
