Burkina Faso to Waive Visa Fees for African Nationals
…………..
The government of Burkina Faso announced that entry visas will now be issued free of charge to all African nationals, media outlets reported. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting in Ouagadougou chaired by President Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
Minister of Security Mahamadou Sana said the move reinforces the country’s commitment to strengthening “historical bonds of brotherhood between African peoples.” While visas remain mandatory, applicants from African countries will no longer pay fees.
The policy aims to facilitate the free movement of Africans across the continent and promote regional integration. In the same Cabinet session, an amendment to the 2025 finance law was approved to formalize the visa fee waiver for African nationals.
