The Documentation Centre for Violations Against Shia in Syria mourned Hussein Ahmed Mar’i, whose body was found in Maryghan, Homs, and condemned his killing as a “heinous” act. According to the centre, Mar’i was abducted and murdered allegedly due to his Shia identity, reflecting ongoing sectarian-based violations including killings, kidnappings, displacement, and starvation.

The group described the incident as part of a systematic pattern of attacks targeting Syria’s Shia community and called on the United Nations and international human rights organisations, including Amnesty International, to urgently intervene and pressure Syrian authorities to halt such crimes against innocent civilians.
